Breakfast at Quack's

Ravyn and I often meet up in the mornings for some fun outdoor time with the boys before it gets too hot out. Quack's Bakery in Hyde Park was something a little different than usual (i.e. no playground) and Lucas and Sufyan quickly turned the sidewalk, doorways and bike racks into a play area (a little scary with the road so close). This is the beginning of a really great stage of childhood- everything can be made into a game or amusement at this age!

Two Weeks Straight in the 100s!

And we're not talking a wimpy 101 or 102 degrees. Most of the time it's somewhere around 106 with a heat index of 110! My car thermometer reads 114 degrees after it's been parked in the shade all day! Uggghhhh! Needless to say, we have cabin fever here. It's too hot to even play in the pool- the water is too warm and the sun is too intense. The other day we played chase in a mall dept store and went up and down the escalators 63 times.
We've been going to other toddler-friend's houses.

We've been cooling off in the fountains at 8:00 in the morning (before the pools open)

And we've been eating lots of ice cream. :)

Neighbors

I'm so happy Lucas and Sufyan are such good friends and that they're right across the street from us! Every new mama needs another mama in the same boat to help her through the tough times and have adult-conversation with! Sometimes I feel like I'm living a very Mayberry existence- borrowing butter and lemon juice while in the middle of cooking dinner, dropping by for 10 min while one mom showers, walking to the coffee shop together, etc, etc. Thanks for being such a great friend Ravyn! :)

Baby Friends and Misc. Playground Photos

This past month has been so wonderful for Lucas interactions. He actually PLAYS now. Not just banging things together or responding to our entertainment. He drives little fist sized cars around on the floor, takes things in and out of vessels (he especially likes to do this with dump trucks and then drive them around the room with their cargo), he can use most of the equipment at the toddler playgrounds, and he mimics our noises and faces. So much fun! This all comes at about the same time as the cooler weather in Austin so of course we spend as much time outdoors as possible. Here are a few pictures of Lucas with his baby friends: Bodie, Sufyan, and Cohen!

Check out how huge Cohen is compared to Lucas... he's 6 months old!

Actually, the photo above makes it look like he's bigger than he is. They're the same size. Cohen has about a pound on Lucas. :) Here's a more accurate representation:
