Getting Better

So, I guess all I had to do was write a blog post about Lucas being sick and he started to get better! He's able to eat and sleep without the mucus getting too much in the way. He still is super stuffy and snorty but at least he's not too affected by it now. Yay! Here are our new happy baby photos:

Sick and Sick

Lucas went from 3-4 days of Roseola (103 degree fever at it's worst) to healthy for 3 days, to the worst cold EVER now going on day 6. Poor baby boy. He's so snotty that he can't eat or sleep well. He's gagging on his food as it gets caught in his mucousy throat and we're having to feed him lots of water to thin things out in there. He sleeps in 30 minute sessions and wakes up crying and snorting. We can't keep up with the snot-sucker bulb frequently or effectively enough to make him comfortable. Laith and I are so tired that we're starting to talk like Lucas... "ba-ba-ba-ba pbtttttt." I ordered a nosefrida and hope that it will be our snot-sucker dream-come-true. I think I'm going to become a little more of a germ-a-phobe now so we don't have to go through this too often in our future. This is rough! Get well soon, Lucas!

Videos! Part 1

Laith and I have been having fun with our little RCA Small Wonder Camera. The first installment I'm a little embarrassed to post because our son looks more like a crazed monkey than a baby human.... but it's pretty funny so I'll post it to entertain you all. Thank you to Laith for the cute capture of our wild kingdom baby!

More food pics

According to my mom, I was a neat-freak from the time I was born. I turned magazine pages one by one rather than tearing them out and trying to eat them like my baby peers, I lined up my toys and stuffed animals in neat rows when I played and I daintily ate my food without a mess from the time my mom introduced solids at 4 1/2 months. In fact, in order to get the classic messy-baby-eating-at-the-highchair photo, my mom smeared the food on my face herself! Luckily, I grew out of some of that daintiness and I'm totally okay with a little gooeyness and a little disorganization. But apparently there are still some vestiges of this 'aversion to mess'. With the exception of his first solids experience with bananas, I've been withholding the spoon from Lucas. As cute as he is, I just didnt' want to deal with Mr. Grabby Hands when his hands were coated in wet mush. The thought of him getting food in his eyes, ears, hair, diaper and the 10 foot radius around him and then having to clean that up without his super stretch octopus arms getting food in MY eyes, ears, hair and nostrils (he's really fascinated by nostrils these days. Ew.) was just too much. He wasn't eating the quantities that I was hoping for though and I knew I was robbing him of the tactile experience that he obviously needs to learn about his world. So I gave him back the spoon. Let the party begin!
