Kitchen and the Kings

After much planning and much waiting, our shipment from ikea arrived and Laith tackled the HUGE project head-on. He had help from a friend on one day (demolition) and did the rest himself entirely! I'm so proud of Laith and his self-taught expertise in plumbing, ducting, electrical wiring, flooring, designing, and assembling a million little screws and large identical-looking cabinet pieces! He says that he feels like all he does is fix things these days, (since that's kind of what he does at his job too!) but the end is in sight and the kitchen looks soooo much better already. He deserves a day on the lake or some kind of big relaxation after this. I'll be posting more photos as the project progresses.

During the worst part of the remodeling (a large hole in the floor, broken pieces of drywall everywhere), Lucas and I drove out to Houston to visit the Kings and meet baby Emrey for the first time. Becky King and I were good friends from our days as guides at LaVida in 1999 and reconnected a couple years ago just before she moved to TX. She and Ellis were so sweet to host us during this time. It's always hard to have guests in your house when you're brand new parents and your visitor isn't much help because she has a crazy toddler running around. :) Thanks so much for having us guys! Emrey is absolutely adorable and has a really cute personality too. I couldn't stop photographing her! Lucas was on a sleep-strike while we were there but despite that we had a great time. He was happy to explore a new place, we went swimming, to the library, and played with the dog Bailey. Lots of good times.
