Cute Mr. Baby

These are old pictures (from the Horton visit) but I wanted to post them because I like them so much :)

Doctor Appt.

Lucas got his first shots today. We decided to split the immunizations between two visits (3 weeks apart) to minimize side effects and it's a good thing because after that first needle went into his cute chubby thigh and he started to cry big alligator tears, I wanted to swoop him up into my arms right away. If we were doing the standard vaccination schedule, I would have had to watch him get jabbed 3 more times after that. Luckily it was just one more and I could hold him and comfort him right away. I'm so attached to Lucas and so protective of him that I have a new appreciation for the strength and restraint my parents showed as I was growing up and they let me go out and experience the world. I had more independence than most of my peers and I think I really benefitted from that. Hopefully I'll be able to be the same way with Lucas- but while he's a little baby, I'm going to be quite the mama bear. :)
For all those who care about such things, here are Lucas' stats:
height: 23 1/2 inches (60th percentile for a 2 1/2 month old)
weight: 12 pounds 11 ounces (also 60th percentile)

New Years Day hike

We thought all the revelers would be sleeping it off New Years Day but we were very wrong. There were so many families at this out-of-the-way park in Belton, you'd think we were at an amusement park! Luckily we found an offshoot trail and still got the beautiful, peaceful hike we were hoping for.

The Hortons Visit!

Uncle Matt and Aunt Karen arrived the day after Christmas. I was so excited to see them, spend time with them and introduce them to Lucas! Karen has been my best friend since sophomore year in highschool- so even though she's not my biological sister, she's close enough and gets the title 'aunt' (or is it spider...see spy-cam photo)

Lucas welcomed the Hortons with a big soupy poop that I honestly could not have managed on my own. He had been holding back on bowel movements for the past 4 days, waiting for this special occasion. Afterwards he got an unscheduled bath!

Some of the fun outings we were able to do with Karen and Matt included a hike up Mt Bonnell,

A visit to Stevie Ray Vaugn,

A visit to Stubbs BBQ Gospel Brunch,

And a visit to the Rosedale playground!

It was such a great time to catch up and both Matt and Karen were so helpful and wonderful with Lucas. One of their Christmas presents to us was a night out for Laith and I while they watched the baby boy. Yay! We hope to visit again soon!
