Another stage of childhood that we've been looking forward to ever since Lucas was born... art! Lucas is really into chalk, markers, crayons and paint- though his attention span is still pretty limited. He also enjoys naming the colors and can say/point out blue, pink, red and purple and black.



We're also enjoying watching him investigate a magic marker's full spectrum of uses... :)
The microphone on my cameraphone is broken but this is a cute video anyway. If you watch till the end you'll see his happy dance!

Feeding Annie

All of a sudden, our baby turned into a boy. Here he is with his daily "chore" of feeding Annie!

Wow!

This has nothing to do with the Vincent family, but I just stumbled upon this group and had to share it. :)
These videos are of a Staten Island public school 5th grade chorus. Not a magnet program, not a performing arts school. It just makes me happy to watch these 9 and 10 year olds sing. They're so INTO the music, so happy to be singing, and it just makes me want to put more of my own energy into creating things that inspire and speak to our souls. It also makes me want to support music and art in our kids' education because I believe that those 2 things (and literature/poetry too) are what make us fully human and interconnected to each other.

The Elusive Garbage Monster

I finally captured it on video- the Unpredictable Garbage Truck. This is Lucas' absolute favorite truck. Not even a schoolbus or excavataor gets him this excited. Just look at that super-cool robotic arm that lifts our trashcans! We run outside when we hear it rumble down the street and point, mouth agape. However, the past month or so, Mr. Garbage Man has not been coming down our street at the usual time. Every Friday, we wait around the house, hoping we'll catch it before we give up and leave; only to return and find our garbage has already been collected. This time, I was ready. I kept my video camera on in the car in case we passed a garbage truck so I could film it for Lucas to watch whenever he's fussy. :) This guy was particularly elusive. I followed him a couple blocks where he would pick up a few cans, skip a few houses, and then turn down another street. Lucas and I got out of the car and ran ahead to station ourselves for the garbage can show TWICE (that's in and out of the carseat twice) only to be thwarted by his willy nilly collection pattern. We finally caught him 5 blocks away. Woo hoo!

Lucas got lots of attention from the other shoppers as he exuberantly played with his balloon the WHOLE time! I didn't even capture the full range of excitement because he tones it down everytime he sees the camera. Enjoy!

We recently bought a video recorder as Lucas is starting to do so many cute things that just can't be captured with still photos. Sooo, here we are introducing Lucas-cam. These videos will definitely give you a better glimpse of our baby boy's personality. :) Enjoy!

Add to that his voracious eating habits. All I can say is that when Laith gave me 5 hours to myself for our anniversary present, I seriously considered using it to get 5 continuous hours of sleep!

New milestones

This post is a little late in coming- these pictures are a couple of weeks old. Lucas has got some strong legs and abs and we're wondering what we're in for once he uses these skills to move himself! He's already doing these little commando motions on his tummy- getting ready to crawl. He gets really frustrated when he doesn't get anywhere. Time to baby-proof! :)

Giant Caterpillar!

Look what Lucas got in the mail from Grammy! It came in a little 11" x 18" box and his new stuffed toy kept coming out further and further like it was in a clown car! I wish I had known to get out the camera to record his reaction but his 2nd reaction was still fun. Thanks Grammy!

Another milestone!

Lucas and Laith were playing on his bedroom floor this evening and I went in to take pictures of them. Luckily, as I had the camera to my eye, Lucas rolled over for the first time ever! He went from tummy to back and towards his left side. Just like his first smile, this "first" was performed under low light conditions so tilt your monitor to get a good view of the video. The still photos are of his first roll and the video is of his third roll! Yay, Lucas!
